Economic Development
Glenorchy City Council is committed to sustainable economic development for the benefit of both business and residents by creating prosperity, innovation and jobs.
The Economic objectives defined in the Glenorchy City Council Strategic Plan are to:
- Foster Business, Industry and Tourism Development
- Promote investment by leveraging on the City's infrastructure
- Promote the City as an attractive place to invest, visit and do business
- Grow jobs through education, training and support for the underemployed
- Partner with others to promote economic development
- Maintain demographic and economic information to assist economic development
Council's Economic Development Unit is required to devise and implement strategies that:
- Retain, develop and attract business
- Attract investment, sustainable development and major events
- Increase visitation and spend
- Develop and utilize private and public sector partnerships, and
- Improve the skill base and employability of youth and the underemployed
